come up and see me sometime

i find mae west fascinating. she's been suspected of having secret marriages, being of african-american descent, having ties to the mob; was an early champion of women's and gay rights, learned her signature strut from drag queens; was a playwright, director, actress and songstress; served the sexual innuendo with a side of power, and dressed in her signature hourglass gowns and diamonds up until her death. she used controversy to pack theaters. there are a handful of films she can be seen in before The Code watered-down her humor. i suggest you watch them, particularly if you have the netflix instant download option. in the meantime, take a gander at my west-inspired delectables...
